Strengthening Organizations
Through Equity, Connection, and Reflection

Love, Grace, and accountability

Melinda Barbosa is a facilitator, trainer, and leadership coach who upholds the values of community, structure, and mutual care that shaped her upbringing in a large Cape Verdean immigrant family. These lessons inspire her work with mission-driven organizations, grounded in her unwavering belief that people can collaborate meaningfully and support one another. Her experiences have nurtured her understanding of the importance of grace, accountability, and centering belonging in every space she works in.

Melinda helps others embrace their stories as powerful tools for healing and social change. Melinda’s journey is shaped by challenges and growth. Navigating systems resistant to change and balancing her passion for equity with professional demands push her to lean into her values of curiosity and courage.

She began her professional career as a fat-positive lifestyle blogger and consultant for plus-size fashion brands, championing representation and inclusivity. She later became a youth worker, creating spaces where young people could dream big and feel supported by staff who believed in their potential. Her work continues to focus on fostering environments where everyone feels seen, valued, and empowered to thrive.

Her love of doodling and creating visuals brings clarity and inspiration to her work. Through her her consulting she helps mission-driven organizations and individuals connect with their stories, imagine bold possibilities, and find pathways to growth.

In her personal life, Melinda finds joy in nurturing life—whether it’s tending her garden, redesigning spaces, or spending time with her new dog, Saint. She also loves watching reality TV and breaking it down with friends in the group text, blending humor and connection with social insight. Melinda’s work and life reflect a deep belief in the power of storytelling, creativity, and community to inspire transformation and liberation.

“Being a victim of oppression in the United States is not enough to make you revolutionary, just as dropping out of your mother's womb is not enough to make you human. People who are full of hate and anger against their oppressors or who only see Us versus Them can make a rebellion but not a revolution. The oppressed internalize the values of the oppressor. Therefore, any group that achieve power, no matter how oppressed, is not going to act differently from their oppressors as long as they have not confronted the values that they have internalized and consciously adopted different values.” -Grace Lee Boggs
